A changed eating pattern, for example by losing weight, can cause (extremely) slow bowel movements. Fortunately, something can be done about it; read all the tips here.
Because it can be a rather annoying complaint.
Fat and sugar
Have you recently started losing weight or have changed your diet for some other reason, it is quite normal for your bowel movements to temporarily adjust to less fat and sugar consumption. To improve this, you can try the following methods:- Check if you drink enough water (1.5 to 2 liters per day): drinking too little water can lead to delayed bowel movements.
- Drink a glass of lukewarm water with lemon juice every morning for a week.
- Be sure to eat the seeds of a kiwi.
- Cut the skin of a kiwi into very thin slices and eat them (stir them into yogurt, for example).
- Make sure you eat tomatoes, celery and flaxseed.
- Check your fiber intake: fiber is very important for healthy bowel movements. Whole grain products, vegetables, fruits and legumes contain a lot of fiber.
