Do you work from behind a desk and spend most of your day sitting down? Then you are more likely to gain weight than someone who is moving a lot during his or her workday. Desk work is often accompanied by hardly any exercise and backward-looking snacking while staring at your screen. And from snacking comes more snacking, and little exercise makes you want to exercise even less than you might already have. But help is at hand. NewFysic gives you the best tips.

Tip 1: Bring your own snacks

That craving for something sweet at three o'clock in the afternoon is no stranger to anyone. And a vending machine in the hallway is very inconvenient when you are trying to eat healthily. The solution is simple but requires some preparation. In the morning before you leave, prepare your snacks for the day. Bring was cherry tomatoes, pack crackers and low-fat spreads or get some fruit and yogurt on the way to work.

Tip 2: Hide food

Research shows that when there is food or candy on the table, you are more likely to eat it. So make sure your carefully concocted snacks of the day are out of sight. Keep them in the refrigerator, your cupboard or leave them in your bag until it's time for your snack.

Tip #3: Squeeze your buttocks at every email

Sitting on your buttocks all day doesn't mean you don't have to use those glutes at all. Squeeze your buttocks for 5 seconds with every email you send. Then relax for a moment and repeat three times. In time it will become routine and by the end of the week you will have grown rock-solid glutes.

Tip 4: Change your posture

Change your posture every half hour when you are working at your desk. A good posture in which you tone your abs is the following:
  • Adjust your chair so that your hips hover slightly above your knees
  • Then lean forward so that your chest falls above your hips
  • Push your shoulder blades together
In this position, you train your back and abdominal muscles while getting rid of all your emails.

Tip 5: Move under your desk

Few managers will let their employees do squats next to their desk all day. Sit up straight with both feet flat on the floor. Extend one leg so it is parallel to the floor, flex your foot and hold for 5 seconds. Slowly lower the leg again and repeat with your other leg.
