During the vacations, it is always extra difficult to resist all the temptations of tasty and lots of food. The most important advice: make the best possible choices and keep it fun! With the following tips from our dietician, we'll make it a little easier for you.
Rate all the goodies on the table
Try to limit snacking during the vacations. Often all kinds of things are placed or offered on the table. Because that's nice and easy, everyone can just grab. Convenient, but also a pitfall. But do you really like everything on the table? Give everything a grade from 1-10 and you will find out that there are many 6s among them. Only go for your 10s and only eat what you really like and then enjoy it. Don't be tempted to eat a lot just because it's in front of you.
Get out and about!
Try to go out as much as possible. Go out alone, together or with your family. Plan an outing to the beach or forest for a nice walk. Dress warmly and bring a healthy lunch and coffee or tea in a thermos. That is another advantage of the closure of the catering industry, you can't order that pancake or that delicious croquette sandwich so easily now ;).
Tell in advance that you are following a different eating pattern
If you are having dinner with friends, consider indicating in advance that you are following a different eating pattern. For sure they will not mind at all to take this into account! Try to take your snacks every 2.5 to 3 hours during the day to keep your metabolism running at full speed. Saving your food/calories for dinner at night is not a good idea.
Shift your focus
Good food and drink is nice and enjoyable. However, when it's good, the company and good conversation is even more rewarding. Shift your focus from the food to the person you are sitting at the table with. Or move from the lurking table full of snacks to the kids' corner, to play along with the kids with your full attention.
