Veel onderweg? Zo blijf je toch gezond eten

On the go a lot? Here's how to stay healthy

Do you often sit in the car for work? Then it may not be easy to eat healthy. After all, gas stations are not known for their fresh and healthy snacks. Still, you can make sure you keep eating healthy on the road. With these tips, you'll be just fine.

And who said healthy doesn't taste good?

In the car

A long car ride, whether to work or towards vacation, often results in snacking. The places you encounter along the way often don't offer you the healthy options you're looking for. Annoying, but not insoluble. With a little preparation, you can eat healthy while on the road, too.

Find distractions

Did you know that the reason people eat on the road is mostly to seek distraction? Granted, a long car ride can also be tremendously boring. So find a different kind of distraction in the form of music (put on your favorite radio station), counting the red cars or having a sip. You can also download some podcasts to entertain yourself in the car.

Wraps

Besides being hearty and nutritious, wraps are super easy to take with you. Plus, you can prepare them the night before. Convenient, especially if you have to leave early. Spread them with cottage cheese or chicken breast and don't forget to add some fresh raw vegetables. If you really have some time, make these spicy wraps with chicken from the oven.

Sweet vegetables

.

Cherry tomatoes, pieces of cucumber, paprika. It's all equally delicious, healthy and serves great as a snack on the go. Put them in a tupperware in the morning and snack on them while driving. Optionally, make a quick yogurt dip with them, although you might want to stop driving for a while before you start dipping.

Boiled egg

A boiled egg satisfies the cravings like no other and also helps you balance your blood sugar. Cook a few at the beginning of the week; you can store an unpeeled hard-boiled egg in the refrigerator for 4 to 7 days.

Fruit

Fruits like apples, tangerines are good to take with you and also function very well as snacks on the go. If you prefer to take the apples with you in segments, sprinkle them with some lemon juice before packing them, it helps against discoloration.

Smoothie

Prepare this in the blender in the morning. Very handy if you have to hit the road early and don't have time for breakfast: add some oatmeal to your favorite fruits and/or vegetables and you have a great breakfast shake on the go.

Cracker sandwich

You can spread crackers with your favorite (slim) toppings before you leave home. If you don't want to eat them until the afternoon, you might want to wait a bit before topping them. In that case, take the pack of crackers and your toppings separately and spread them on the road when you take a break from driving at a gas station. No superfluous luxury anyway :) This article was written by Fleur (45). Fleur loves life, her large family, her work and fun.
