Easter can be a challenge if you're trying to watch your weight. Yet - with some adjustments - it can be a wonderful weekend with good food and lots of fun. With the following tips, you'll get through Easter deliciously and healthily.
And don't forget to enjoy yourself a little!
1. A good start is a good and nutritious breakfast
A good breakfast gets the engine going and increases your metabolism. In addition, it is important to take the right ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. This will make you feel fit and energetic for longer.
2. Eat enough and do not forget snacks
By eating regularly you keep the engine going. It is therefore good to eat several small portions throughout the day. With five to six small meals you keep your metabolism constant.
3. Provide a healthy lunch and make it extra tasty and cheerful with colorful vegetables
Spread your whole wheat cracker/butter with lean meats, smoked salmon or make a delicious homemade tuna salad. Add some extra slices of tomato, cucumber, radishes or strips of bell bell pepper and some fresh herbs and you have a delicious lunch. You can also choose a nice vegetable soup or a meal salad.
4. Drink a maximum of 1 glass of wine and opt for tea, water or Spa red.
Preferably choose dry white or red wine and try to drink two glasses of water with each glass. Make your water extra tasty by adding some fresh mint, ginger, cucumber or some fresh fruit (lemon/orange).
5. Try to get some extra exercise during Easter.
Take a walk, go to the forest for example. Or instead of the car, take a bike to get to your friends or family.
6. A tasty Easter breakfast includes an egg!
Eggs are healthy, even during Easter. Eggs provide lots of protein and several valuable vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B2, B12, D, E and the minerals iron, phosphorus and selenium. They do not contain many calories and make you feel full. In addition, they are delicious and you can vary them a lot (boiled, fried, omelet). In short: plenty of reasons to choose an egg more often.
