Losing weight, quitting smoking, making more time for family and friends, exercising more, and reducing stress are among the most frequently made good resolutions. Making a resolution is one thing, but how do you keep these good plans?
There are a few simple ways to do that.
1. Set realistic goals
You may want to lose dozens of pounds or resolve to see one of your friends or family members every day, but often your schedule as well as your body just don't allow for these kinds of plans. Set yourself goals that you know are achievable. Nothing is more demotivating than finding out halfway through January that nothing has come of your resolutions.
2. Don't be too strict
Few resolutions can be kept for an entire year. Smoking: yes. Less stress: no. Does it not work out for a week? Then don't be too hard on yourself and pick it up the next week. Punishing yourself is counterproductive.
3. Keep it small (and fun)
World peace is a noble goal, but probably not attainable for you as a person. Keep your goals realistic, not too big and, above all, fun. For example, telling your friends that you appreciate them so much is already a very good one, and heartily achievable. Want to cut down on sugar? 4. Doe het samen
Zijn je vriend(inn)en ook toe aan een gezonde(re) levensstijl? Stel je doelen dan samen, dan houd je ze beter vol. Je kunt samen koken, tips uitwisselen en elkaar steunen op moeilijke momenten. Bovendien is het een stuk gezelliger dan alleen.
5. Schrijf het op
Noteer je goede doelen aan het begin van het jaar op een voor jouw zichtbare plek: op een post-it op de ijskast, in je notities op je telefoon of in je dagboek op je nachtkastje.
