BMI is a frequently heard term when it comes to weight loss. But what exactly is it and how do you calculate yours? What constitutes a 'good' BMI, and what can you do if your BMI turns out to be unhealthy?
Health expert Bart will explain it all to you.
What is BMI?
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an index for weight in relation to body height. The BMI provides an estimate of the health risk associated with your body weight. You can calculate your BMI if you:
- You are between 18 and 70 years old.
- Between 158cm and 190cm tall.
- You are not pregnant.
Calculate BMI
You calculate your BMI by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared. For example, if you are 1.62 meters tall and weigh 56 kilograms, your BMI is 21.4. You can easily calculate your BMI online at NewFysic. Click on
this link and fill in your gender, weight, and height.
What is a healthy BMI?
Once you know your BMI, you'll know which category you fall into: underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obesity. The NewFysic
BMI calculator will tell you immediately on your screen. A BMI score of 18.5 is considered too low, between 18.5 and 25 you have a 'normal' or 'healthy' weight, and above that you have mild or severe overweight (above 40).
Are you overweight or obese? Then make an appointment at one of NewFysic's locations or contact one of our coaches online. They can create a personalized nutrition plan for you to lose weight. Without hunger and with results.
