Tips to move more unnoticed

Exercise is healthy, we all know that. But if you have an office job, spend a lot of time in the car or don't get much exercise at all during work or study, it is not always easy to get those recommended 30 minutes a day. Merel tells you how you can still get your daily dose of moves. Without you even realizing it.

The benefits of enough exercise are endless: you feel fitter, more energetic, sleep better, age better, and so on. But now that I've started working, I realize just how quickly you can fall into an exercise-free period. After work, I run errands, make in dinner, and by the time I finish it.... I prefer to plop on the couch. I should actually go for a run, but I don't have the energy for that anymore. To still get my daily dose of exercise, I do the following things.

Walk or bike to work

By taking a (functional) walk every morning and evening, I feel like I clear my head from work and get some exercise at the same time. Additional benefit: you're nice and outside, ideal for an office tiger like me. If you take the streetcar to work, get off one stop early and walk the last bit. For people with a car: park your car a few blocks away.

Make a virtue of necessity

Are there empty bottles next to the refrigerator? Is the storage room a mess? Does the grass in the garden reach your knees? Then make sure you do one of these chores after work. By taking the glass to the bottle bank, doing some serious tidying up or mowing the grass, you'll get some exercise and you won't have to do this annoying chore later. Feels good, right? Move while brushing your teeth

Use the time you are brushing your teeth to strengthen your leg muscles. For example, stand on your toes 20 times in a row. Or do 15 squads or knee bends. By the way, this can also be done while showering.

Sit on a fitness ball

Een blokje om tijdens het bellen

Ik ken het hoor: languit op de bank of op je bed liggen en urenlang bellen met je vriendinnen. Maar hoe relaxed dit ook is, je lijf heeft hier niet zoveel aan. Wat beter is: rondjes lopen terwijl je belt. Door je huis of, nog beter: door je buurt.

Plan je koffiedates buiten

Spreek in plaats van in een café of coffeeshop, af in een park. Haal een koffietje to go en wandel door het park, schommel in de speeltuin of beklim een klimrek. Tijd genoeg om bij te kletsen, lol te trappen en ook nog wat aan je dagelijkse dosis beweging te doen.
