Just a little longer and we'll be enjoying that lovely warm spring sunshine again. A feast for most, although there are some people for whom spring is inseparable from sneezing, sniffling and coughing: hay fever. There is something to be done about that, naturally.
The culprit: pollen.
Avoid contact with pollen
Is it a warm, windy day? Then try to avoid trips outdoors. Take the bus instead of biking and keep doors and windows closed to prevent pollen from blowing in. Do you normally hang your laundry outside? Then do it inside now to avoid pollen on your clothes.
Miracle potion
It seems to help: take a shot of apple cider vinegar in the morning. It makes your nose and throat produce less mucus during the day. It also prevents the tickle you might feel that makes you cough.
Watch food and drink
Less fat and more carbs. That seems to be the recipe against hay fever. Eat mostly leafy vegetables like spinach and lettuce, peppers, tomatoes and seasonings like garlic and onion. If you suffer from hay fever, it is best not to eat alcohol, caffeine, dairy, citrus fruits, red meat or sugar. But the latter wasn't in your personal nutrition plan anyway 😉
Supplements & exercise
Vitamin C works like crazy against hay fever. Make sure you get enough of it, or take one of NewFysic's multivitamins. Exercise is also good for you during this period. Exercise has an anti-inflammatory effect and it gets your blood flowing, even in your snotty nose. Do wait with a run until the end of the day: then there are less pollen in the air.
