Tips for hot summer days

It's officially summer! We are thoroughly enjoying the wonderful summer weather. Our bodies have a hard time during the hot days. It is working hard to regulate heat, gets dehydrated faster, wants to retain fluids and is harder to get moving. We share 5 tips to give your body a helping hand:

Water, water and more water

As temperatures have risen, everyone is experiencing increased fluid loss. The best known forms of fluid loss are sweating (c.a. 450 - 900 ml per day) and urination (c.a. 500 - 1400 ml per day). But fluid also leaves our bodies through respiration (about 350 ml per day) and defecation (about 150 ml per day). Body fluids ensure, among other things, proper heat regulation and the transport of nutrients and waste products in the body. It also plays a role in digestive processes. These are important processes that need to keep working properly, especially while losing weight!

Therefore, drink enough water, preferably about 2 liters per day. Drinking water speeds up your metabolism. Our body needs moisture for the supply and removal of waste products and if there is not enough moisture, the metabolism slows down. Drinking, especially water, is therefore extremely important. Make your water extra tasty by adding some fresh lemon, lime, mint, ginger, watermelon, grapefruit, or cucumber!
