Want to serve a festive hot drink, but without the alcohol? This mulled wine will save you a lot of calories and you can still drive home, even if you drink it all. Fleur gives you an easy and quick recipe.
For comparison, one glass ( 250 ml) of this alcohol-free mulled wine contains 118 kcal. Ordinary mulled wine contains 250-275 kcal per glass (250 ml).... Count your winnings :)
Alcohol-free mulled wine (4 pers.)
Ingredients:
1 liter of cloudy apple juice
2 centimeters of ginger
2 cloves (or more if you really like clove flavor)
1 teaspoon baking spice
½ lemon
possibly 1 star anise
Preparation:
Peel the ginger and cut into slices (if you want to take them out later, do not cut too thin slices). Heat the apple juice on low heat in a pan and add the ginger, cloves, star anise and cookie spices. Stir this well for a few minutes so that all the spices mix well and remove the cloves, star anise and, if necessary, the ginger.
Serve the mulled wine immediately in four nice glasses. Garnish with a slice of lemon on the rim of the glass.
