Fewer calories during the week and more calories on the weekend? The principle of losing weight is basically very simple. If you want to lose weight or fat, you will have to take in fewer calories each day than you consume. However, this sounds easier than it is in practice. NewFysic has guided thousands of people to a healthy weight for more than fifteen years. We can confidently say that we have become experts in the field of weight loss, whether it's just a few kilos or months of weight loss: we will help you! We know that it is not only difficult to start, but even more difficult to keep it up. Where does the problem lie? Many people watch what they eat during the week. On Monday you start your personal NewFysic diet plan full of courage, keeping track of everything and not turning your hand to a delicious meal from the NewFysic cookbook. You also manage to run twice in between, skip Friday afternoon drinks with ease and avoid sweets, cookies and alcohol. Nice going! Then Saturday morning, the weigh-in: yes, you lost weight! We succeeded, so we have to celebrate... On Monday we start all over again. We secretly eat a lot more at the weekend, precisely because we miss the weekly structure of working days and the social activities increase. A cookie with coffee, half a piece of cake at a birthday, a few stolen French fries and a glass of wine with dinner... It seems like nothing, but if you were to start tracking calories on these days as well, you will see that this is quickly a lot higher than on weekdays. Not fun, but it really goes up faster than you think. Those two days of calorie surplus mean that by Monday morning you will have gained weight again and can start all over again, all because of those little snacks on the weekend! How do you break this pattern? Everything depends on a structural negative energy balance, or in other words: eating fewer calories than the body burns, per day. Or rather, per week. Or per month. NewFysic's nutrition plan is very balanced and allows enough room for the occasional thing that is not quite NewFysic-proof. Talk to your coach about how best to handle this: he/she is an expert by experience and can give you the tools to break through a negative spiral. And the good news: it really can be quite simple!
