6x sneaky ways to lose weight

A healthier lifestyle is all about adjusting your diet. In it you make big, and small changes that help you become healthier, fitter and thinner. These 6 small and simple adjustments have big effects.

It's all in the little things....

1 Drink smart drinks

The calories from wine, cappuccinos and sodas are not registered by your brain in the same way as food. Thus, a café latte makes you feel less satiated than a cracker, even though they may contain the same number of calories. In other words, after a tasty drink, you will still feel hungry, whereas after a healthy snack, you will be fine. Make sure to drink a diet coffee or light soda and, if you are hungry, indulge in gezonde tussendoortjes.

2 Replace whole products

If a recipe calls for cream or milk, replace the full cream with a low-fat version. With no loss of flavor, you will create a dish with fewer calories. And I bet none of your dinner companions will even notice?

3 Start with your vegetables

Research shows that people eat the most of the type of food on their plate that they start with. So don't have meat, fish or carbs as your first bite but start with the vegetables. Vegetables also make you feel full quickly while containing the fewest calories on your plate.

4 Substitute pasta for zucchini

Never heard of zucchini before? You make them with a special zucchini grater through which you pass the zucchini. The result is spaghetti-like strands, only a lot healthier. You hardly need to cook them, so is your pasta sauce ready? Stir in the zucchini and you have a delicious low-calorie meal.

5 Sweeten your own yogurt

Yogurt can contain a lot of sugar, especially if flavored or already sweetened prior to sale. Sweetening yogurt is something you can very well do yourself, making it not only tastier but also healthier. Puree some fruit (such as strawberries. blueberries or blackberries) and stir it into your yogurt. Enjoy your meal!

6 Replace potato chips with pickles

Still in the mood for something crunchy in the evening? Then don't reach for the chips but cut up some sour bombs for yourself. At least as tasty, and way healthier.
