Eating an entire bag of chips, a roll of cookies in front of the TV, or stopping at the big yellow M. We've all done it at one time or another, and it usually didn't feel good. What about that? And why were you hungry again after only an hour?
We figured it out for you.
Snacking
While a roll of cookies or hamburger menu contain an awful lot of calories, you feel like eating something else pretty soon after snacking. A strange phenomenon, but easily explained.
Calories vs. nutrients
The mechanism that helps you stop eating when you're full doesn't just operate on the quantity of what you eat, but rather selects what nutrients your food contains. So if you eat a bag of M&Ms, you will have ingested a lot of calories but very few nutrients. Junk food is usually high in volume, and low in nutrients. So you are very satiated for a while only to want to eat more again.
Cravings
As a loyal NewFysic follower, you obviously never eat junk food ;) But the information above can be very useful to know if you have a
craving for extremely sweet or fatty foods. Remember, it doesn't give your body what it really needs, and you will always feel hungry again afterwards.
