10 Ways to Lose Weight Without Effort

Losing weight without starving yourself or working incredibly hard at it. It's possible. These tips will help you without sacrificing too much of your time, energy, or willpower. Too good to be true? Absolutely not. Read these tips:

Drink a glass of water before each meal.

Water makes you feel full and reduces hunger. Drinking water also stimulates digestion. So make sure you drink one or more glasses of water before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, at least 30 minutes before your first bite. Do you find it difficult to drink enough water? These 3 apps will help you drink enough water .

Eat mindfully

You can, of course, eat your lunch standing by the photocopier or sitting in front of your laptop. Very efficient, but not necessarily very helpful if you want to lose weight. Research shows that if you eat while doing something else, your feeling of hunger can persist even after the meal. Taste what you eat, and eat mindfully. Eventually, you will find that you eat less as a result.

Move (a little) more.

You can, of course, go to the gym. But you don't have to; incorporating more daily movement doesn't have to be as drastic as you might think. You can achieve it with small changes like taking the stairs, a quick walk during your lunch break, or getting up from your chair more often to reach the photocopier.

Eat more (yes, really)

Starvation diets have never led to lasting weight loss. They might help you lose a lot of weight in the short term, but you'll gain it all back as soon as you return to normal eating. To lose weight permanently, you need to adopt a new lifestyle, including a suitable diet. This means eating three healthy meals a day and limiting snacks to two or three.

Eat from a smaller plate.

Search your kitchen cabinets for smaller plates to eat from. Smaller plates lead to smaller portions, and smaller portions lead to weight loss. Seriously, it can be that simple.

Get enough sleep.

Lack of sleep not only causes deeper under-eye circles, a greater need for coffee, and poor focus, it also makes you hungrier. And that hunger is dangerous, because it leads to extra – unhealthy – snacking throughout the day. Besides being hungrier, you're also less able to resist unhealthy snacks when you've had little sleep.

Check your kitchen cabinets.

Check what's in your kitchen cupboards. Get rid of or give away unhealthy or sugary products; this way you won't be tempted to eat them. Stock your kitchen with healthy, energy-giving foods instead, such as fresh vegetables, fruit, and whole-grain products.

Wear clothes that fit.

Definitely don't buy a size larger if you want to lose weight; (too) loose-fitting clothes won't help you lose weight. Instead, go for those trousers that fit perfectly and that jacket without stretch; it will help you determine when you've overeaten and remind you of your goals. Photo: Anderson W Rangel via Unsplash
