No matter how much you want to lose weight, some days are just hard. The important thing is how you deal with it.
Dear diary
You know yourself best. Think about what difficult moments are for you. You can help yourself by keeping an eating journal. When did you have a difficult moment? What exactly happened and how did it make you feel? Tired, sad or happy? This will give you more insight into where things go wrong. And how you can prevent these moments in the future.
Be prepared
And that's not by turning down every birthday where cake is served. It's in finding a way to deal with this. Maybe you think it's a waste to throw food away and eat it all anyway? Is it hard to say no when cake is offered? You can prepare for this if you find it difficult. For example, you could say that you just ate or that you want to watch your sugar intake. Or you could just say, "No, thank you. You're not accountable to anyone: it's your body.
Snack beforehand
If you apply this method, you will see that it gets easier and easier as you go along. You get to know yourself better and better and discover new ways to tackle difficult moments. Sometimes it also helps to have a healthy snack before a birthday. That way you have less trouble turning down a piece of cake.
